Trek Duration

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is typically a 14-20 day trek, depending on the route and itinerary you choose. However, we can customize the duration based on your preferences and fitness level.

Best Time to Trek

The best time to trek in the Manaslu region is from September to November and March to May. These months offer clear skies, stable weather, and comfortable temperatures for trekking. However, the Manaslu Circuit Trek can be trekked year-round, except during monsoon season (June to August) when heavy rainfall can cause landslides and make the trekking trail unsafe.

Trekking Difficulty

The Trek is a strenuous trek that requires good physical fitness and previous trekking experience. The trek involves steep ascents and descents, crossing high-altitude passes, and trekking through rugged terrain. The highest point of the trek is the Larkya La Pass. It is situated at an altitude of 5,160 meters. Altitude sickness can also be a concern, so it is important to acclimatize properly and trek at a comfortable pace.

Trekking Permits

Trekking in the Manaslu region requires several permits, including a restricted area permit. Also, a Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP), and an Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP). These permits can be obtained through a registered trekking company and are required to enter the Manaslu Conservation Area and Annapurna Conservation Area.

Without guide you cannot enter upper Manaslu region. It is a restricted area where all trekkers needs to book with local agents, accompanied by guide and porters which is necessary on this trek to Manaslu. Also, according to  Nepal Tourism Board and the Trekking Agency Association of Nepal met jointly on February 28, 2023, and finally reached a consensus after much deliberation and decided to only permit foreign nationals to travel unrestrictedly when accompanied by a guide or porter.

Accommodation

Accommodation along the Manaslu Circuit Trek is mostly in teahouses, which are basic lodges that offer shared rooms and communal dining areas. The teahouses provide simple but hearty meals, including local dishes like dal bhat (lentil soup with rice) and momos (dumplings). The availability ofelectricity, hot showers, and Wi-Fi are limited.

Itinerary

Day 01 Arrive in Kathmandu
Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be met by a representative of your trekking company and transferred to your hotel. You will have the rest of the day to rest and explore the city.

Day 02 Kathmandu to Soti Khola (700m)
After breakfast, you will drive to Soti Khola, which is the starting point of the trek. The drive will take around 8-9 hours, and you will pass through beautiful landscapes and rural villages along the way.

Day 03 Soti Khola to Machha Khola (900m)
The trekking begins with a walk along the Budhi Gandaki River. You will pass through small villages and cross several suspension bridges before reaching Machha Khola.

Day 04 Machha Khola to Jagat (1,410m)
Today’s trek takes you through a lush forest and up a steep climb to reach the village of Jagat. Along the way, you will pass through several small villages and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Day 05 Jagat to Deng (1,804m)
The trail today continues along the Budhi Gandaki River and passes through several small villages. You will also cross the river a few times before reaching the village of Deng.

Day 06 Deng to Namrung (2,630m)
Today’s trek takes you through a dense forest and up a steep climb to reach the village of Namrung. Along the way, you will pass through several small villages and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Day 07 Namrung to Samagaon (3,530m)
Today’s trek takes you through a beautiful valley and up to the village of Samagaon, which is located at the foot of the Manaslu mountain. Along the way, you will pass through several small villages and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Day 08 Acclimatization day in Samagaon
Today is a rest day, and you will spend the day acclimatizing to the altitude. You can explore the village of Samagaon and take a short hike to the nearby Birendra Tal, which is a beautiful glacial lake.

Day 09 Samagaon to Samdo (3,860m)
Today’s trek takes you through a rocky terrain and up to the village of Samdo, which is located on the border of Tibet. Along the way, you will enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Day 10 Samdo to Dharamsala/Larkya Phedi (4,460m)
Today’s trek takes you through a rugged terrain and up to Dharamsala, which is also known as Larkya Phedi. Along the way, you will pass through several small villages and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Day 11 Dharamsala/Larkya Phedi to Bhimthang (3,720m) via Larkya La Pass (5,160m)
Today is the most challenging day of the trek as you cross the Larkya La Pass, which is one of the highest mountain passes in the world. After crossing the pass, you will descend to the villageDay 01 Kathmandu to Benighat by bus 0.0 km (300 m)

Day 12 Bhimthang to Goa/Ghoa(2,515m) to Dharapani(1,953m)
Today we begin our day from Bimthang and go towards Goa or Ghoa, and to Dharapani, where we spend the night. We enjoy the scenery along the 6-hour journey and stop for lunch in the middle of the day. Then we start our trail to Dharapani After lunch, we walk for 5 hours from Goa/Ghoa to Dharapani, stopping for lunch along the way.

Day 13 Dharapani to Besisahar(760m) to Kathmandu
Today we begin our trek from Dharapani early in the morning. After waking up, we have some breakfast and catch our trail from Dharapani toward Besishahar. We end our day at Besishahar and spend the night over there.

Day 14 Drive from Besisahar to Kathmandu (7-8 hours)
On the last day of the trip, as we begin our day after having some breakfast, we go from Besishahar to Kathmandu via our private vehicle transportation. We then take a drive from Kathmandu, and the rest of the day is off. We have time to come from Besishahar to Kathmandu, and along the way, we will have lunch, see some sights, and experience the drive on the highway in Kathmandu.
